Why two Orlando quotes can differ

Windshields on the same model year can be different parts. These are the things that change yours, and why we ask for the VIN.

  • Camera

    Driver-assist camera

A forward camera needs a bracket bonded to the new glass and a calibration once it is in. Many newer Camrys, Civics and F-150s carry one.

  • HUD

    Heads-up display glass

Speed projected on the windshield needs glass built to show one clean image. It is a separate part number from the standard glass.

  • Sensors

    Rain and light sensors

Auto wipers and headlights look up through a pad on the glass, so the new windshield needs the matching mount.

  • Layers

    Acoustic or heated glass

Some cars have a sound-damping layer or a heated band at the wiper rest. We fit what your car was built with.

  • Coverage

    Florida policy or self-pay

On a Florida policy with comprehensive coverage, the deductible does not apply to windshield damage, and we help you file with State Farm, GEICO, USAA, Progressive, Allstate or any other insurer. Paying yourself, you see the price before you book.

  • VIN

    Where to find the VIN

Look through the bottom corner of the windshield on the driver side, check the door jamb sticker or your insurance card. A photo of it by text to (877) 350-5962 is enough.

Storm season

Planning a windshield around Orlando weather

Orlando sees about 100 days a year at 90°F or hotter, and the wet season brings a thunderstorm most afternoons. A few habits make install day easier.

  • Book a morning slot from June to October. Storms usually build after lunch.
  • Park under a garage, carport or parking deck if you have one. Urethane needs dry glass.
  • Clear the dash and the area around the mirror so the camera cover and trim come off easily.
  • After the install, hold off on the car wash until the technician says it is fine.
  • During lovebug flights in May and September, wash the residue off the glass the same day. Once it bakes on, it smears under the wipers and wears the blades.
  • If a hurricane watch goes up, we move appointments. Glass damaged in a storm is usually a comprehensive claim.

There is no fixed drive-away time. Heat and humidity change it, so the technician tells you when the car is safe to drive.

Florida rules

Florida law and your windshield

Under Fla. Stat. § 627.7288, the deductible does not apply to windshield damage when a Florida policy carries comprehensive or combined additional coverage. That rule covers the windshield only. Your car may qualify for $0 Deductible with Comprehensive Coverage, and we confirm it against your declarations page before anything is scheduled.

For a personal-lines windshield claim, § 627.7291 says your insurer may not require a particular glass company or location. We help you file your claim and bill the insurer directly after covered work. The full explanation, including the 2023 changes, is on our Florida insurance page.

Florida's windshield statute, § 316.2952, requires safety glazing and working wipers and limits what can be stuck to the glass. It sets no crack length. If damage sits in front of the driver or keeps growing, replace the glass.

Windshield questions from Orlando drivers

Call our Orlando line, (407) 305-3829, or text (877) 350-5962.

Can a crack wait until after the summer?

We replace glass and do not repair chips, so the question is whether the damage is spreading. Hot afternoons followed by cold A/C push cracks along, and a crack that reaches the edge rarely stops. Text a photo to (877) 350-5962 and we will tell you what we see.

Is OEM-quality glass the same as the original?

It is built to the vehicle maker's specifications for shape, clarity and the brackets your features need. We pick the part by VIN so the camera, sensor and display areas match.

Can you work in a parking garage at my office in Lake Mary or downtown?

Usually. We need enough headroom to lift the glass and room to open both front doors. Tell us the garage, the level and any vendor sign-in rule when you book.

How soon can you get to me?

Same-day appointments are available in most areas around Orlando. Online booking is open 24/7, and installs run Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.

What does the warranty cover?

Every install comes with our lifetime workmanship warranty for as long as you own the vehicle. It covers our workmanship and defects in the glass we install, not a new rock strike. Full terms: bangautoglass.com/warranty.
