The place
Orlando by mail, Orange County by law
Ask someone near UCF where they live and the answer is usually Orlando. The mailing address agrees. The map does not: the university and most of the neighborhoods around it are in unincorporated Orange County, split by the Census Bureau into places such as Alafaya, University and Union Park. Alafaya alone counted 92,452 people in 2020, and their median age was 34.
The University of Central Florida sits on a 1,415-acre main campus 13 miles east of downtown Orlando, along Alafaya Trail. The university counted 70,674 students in fall 2025. More than 12,000 of them live on campus, and two university-affiliated apartment complexes nearby, Knights Circle and The Pointe at Central, add about 3,750 beds. The Central Florida Research Park, with offices and labs, lies directly south of the campus.
South of Colonial Drive the area turns into planned neighborhoods. Waterford Lakes began in 1985 under the name Huckleberry and now has more than 3,100 homes, with its town center opening in phases between 1999 and 2002. Avalon Park, east of Alafaya Trail and south of SR 50, covers 1,860 acres and was established in 1995.
ZIP codes
Which ZIP code covers which part
From the Census Bureau's 2020 ZIP code areas. ZIP codes follow mail routes, so a few streets near each edge fall in a neighbor's code.

Getting there
The roads that carry the east side
Alafaya Trail (SR 434)
The spine of the area. As SR 434 it runs from Mitchell Hammock Road in Oviedo south past UCF to Colonial Drive in Union Park, then carries on south as Alafaya Trail without the state number, past Waterford Lakes and Avalon Park.
SR 408 East-West Expressway
A toll road that ends near SR 50 just south of campus. Its Alafaya Trail exit (21) only works eastbound off and westbound on, so plan the way back before you take it. Dean Road is exit 19, SR 417 is exit 18 and Goldenrod Road is exit 16.
SR 417 Central Florida GreeneWay
The toll beltway along the west side of campus. University Boulevard is exit 37 and Colonial Drive (SR 50) is exit 34.
Colonial Drive (SR 50)
The east-west road that divides the campus side from the Waterford Lakes and Avalon Park side.
When you book, tell us which side of Colonial Drive you are on and the nearest crossing road. It saves a loop around the half interchange at exit 21.
On campus
Parking rules at UCF
A car on the UCF campus needs a UCF permit, and the rule now applies at weekends too. Visitors can buy a daily permit for $8, good for 24 hours in green student or visitor areas only, and the plate serves as the permit. Service-vehicle spaces need a separate vendor permit that UCF sells by the month or the year.
That makes a campus garage a hard place to replace a windshield. If you live in a residence hall, the simplest plan is usually to meet at a friend's off-campus lot, a family member's driveway or your workplace, wherever vendor work is allowed. If you need the job done on campus, call our Orlando line before you book and we will talk it through.
Apartment lots
Installs at east-side apartments
Much of the housing along Alafaya Trail is apartments. A little planning keeps an install from turning into a towing problem.
- Read the lot's towing signs and your lease rules. Some complexes do not allow vehicle work in the lot at all; ask the leasing office.
- If the car is in an assigned space, say so, and leave room for both front doors to open fully.
- Gated complexes: put the gate code or the call-box name in the booking notes.
- Avoid move-in weekends around the start of the fall semester, when lots and gates are crowded.
- Ian flooded several off-campus complexes near UCF in 2022. In storm season, a covered or higher spot in the lot helps both the car and the install.
We do not install in rain. If an afternoon storm is coming, we call to move the time.
Side windows
When it is not the windshield
Large lots full of parked cars draw break-ins. In January 2022, Fox 35 reported more than 70 cars broken into overnight at one Avalon Park apartment complex. If a door window or the back glass is smashed, report it to the Orange County Sheriff's Office first, then send us the photos. Door and back glass are covered on our auto glass page.

East Orlando questions
Still unsure? Call (407) 305-3829 or text (877) 350-5962 with the details.
Is UCF in the City of Orlando?
No. The main campus has an Orlando mailing address but sits in unincorporated Orange County, about 13 miles east of downtown. We serve it from Orlando all the same.
Can you replace my windshield in a UCF garage?
It is difficult, because campus parking and service spaces need UCF permits. An off-campus driveway or lot where vendor work is allowed is usually easier. Call us before booking an on-campus job.
My parents' insurance covers my car. Can I still book?
Yes. The policyholder can call their insurer to open the claim, and we help with the details. On a Florida policy with comprehensive coverage, the windshield can have $0 Deductible with Comprehensive Coverage. We check the policy before we book.
Do you come out to Avalon Park and Waterford Lakes?
Yes. Both are in the 32828 ZIP code, on our Orlando service area. Same-day appointments are available in most areas.
